Another How To: Stack Install

So i got a really good deal on a set of 6 inch mitres from fte diesel and today i decide to put them on, the bed kit is 5 inch in the bed and it reduces down to 4 inch under the truck it was fairly simple and only took me a little over 3 hours

so first things first I took the bed kit out of the box and assembled it and put it in the bed to figure out how it was going to fit

I then pulled the bed liner back and marked were the pipe had to go through when you do this make sure to leave room in between the stacks and the bed rails as you don’t want any rubbing I left about 3/4 of a inch all the way around

I then cut the hole using a grinder with a cut off wheel I had to cut a little larger so the 5 inch pipe would go through and your going to have to cut the bed support which is ok

I originally wanted to use a 6 inch hole saw attached to my drill but I couldnt find any that big and the nearest ace or home depot

here I marked and drilled the holes through the bed for brackets to hold the 5 inch pipe
and with stacks in make sure you get them level as u tighten them up

heres were they came out underneath

next a put the clamps on the stacks to hold them in place and I also put the clamp on the y making sure the stacks are level again

heres the end result for the bed

now for underneath, here is were the 4 inch piping came out under the bed

your going to take the 4 inch 90 and attach it underneath to the y pipe but on my 90 it was about 1.5 inches to long so I cut that much out to make it allign with the piping

here is the 90 and the piece of flex pipe put together with the supplied clamps

from the transfercase back I had to make my own piping because all I got was a 4 inch downpipe and the piece through the t-case It was pretty much a straight shot so I went out and got a 10ft piece of 4 inch and cut it down

I welded it halfway til I can get up to my uncles and use his good welder instead of the pos I got

here is the 4 inch 90 and flex pipe all bolted up to the bed kit

and finally all finished, I had to knotch my dog box out and I did some good guessing on how much to take out cause it fits perfectly! i dont know why it doesnt look level in this pic but it is, dont mind all the paw prints ill get them cleaned up in the morning

rear shot

and drivers side

I will be taking my truck to my uncles and fully welding all the pipes because I don’t want my stacks to suddenly disappear overnight

so what do u guys think?

Where abouts did you get the parts for the "bed kit"? I know my local Fleetpride will carry it all but mostly I'm wondering specific part #'s if you happen to have them or did you buy it as a kit?

I have a question for any body as long as were talking about stacks. I see where some of you have made your own stacks usuing box tubing. How did you do it and can you post some pictures. I'm in the same situation. I want stacks and am trying to find an economical way to go abot it. I priced the y-pipe from Grand Rock and it runs $120.00 and you have to order it from a distributor. I am going to search big rig bone yards for the stacks. If you make a box tubing cross over will that allow the exhaust to flow like a y-pipe? That's sounds like a dumb question but i always look at things a littile differently than others do.
