Another 1st gen crew cab project
I finally did it. Bought an 82 crew. Scored a rolled 93 ctd w250 this week too. But now I have to wait about a month or so to start the conversion because we are building a new shop and have to move out of the old one, oh well all in good time. I'll keep ya'll posted on my progress.

Its got some rust on the passenger rocker pannel everyhting elses actually looks pretty good the floorboard is solid fenders and doors good the frame is in excellent shape . But it has been repainted so im kinda anctious to see what the roof looks like once I get it stripped there is one spot by the roof lip im worried about. Ive been watching some of the other builds and saw what they found once they got the paint off. But its nothing a little patcients and a mig wont fix. All in all for an 82 were I live I think its in exellent condition with all the salt they dump on our roads in the winter its a wonder the whole thing isnt a rust bucket.

Thanks for the welcomes, its been a long time coming. I just wished I had done it sooner. I already love the truck. I had to drive it about 220 miles home and it handled better and rode better than my 98 ctd, but it didn't get the mpg's the 98 does, that 440 can drink now. I drove by the new shop today walls are goin up so I may be able to start work on it sooner than I thought

Just for grinns what do ya'll think a truck like this would be worth with a low mile 440 in it. I tried to talk the guy down on the price but he was firm telling me the engine was worth what I paid for the whole truck. I know I probably paid a little too much for it but here in new mexico they are few and far between.

Well then, since the engine is worth that much, then how much for the truck if I deliver back the engine and transmission to you?

I don't think the 440 was an option in 1982 so it is an older casting. There is no doubt that a guy can get a lot of cha-ching wrapped up in an RB engine, but to sell one for that much is not an easy task.

'78 was the last year for a 440, and truck or motorhome only option. They use salt in NM too......the b@st@rds.... It is hard to find a rig much over 10 years old around these parts from all the salt use in winter...I take most of the old mopars off the road at the first road salting. I paid $5,000 for my crew which is a lot, but it was in great shape rust wise and running awesome as it just towed my buddy's '72 cuda across the country from AZ to VT[ his wife drove the crew cab, he drove a '01 CTD with his '67 belvidere convertable in tow].Mopar or no car family. New carpeting, A/C works, sweet stereo, power bucket seats, extra wheels and tires and a stick shift! I bought it instantly from my buddy after he drove it here from AZ. It will get a CTD this winter, after the first salting of the road..
