Am I Slipping or What???

I went for a weekend out with the wife and the trailer (6k) and found it interesting going up hills.

At 55 mph in drive going up hill the rpm was 2300 and I couldn't go any faster. I have the 3200 gov spring in but going up the hill it just stayed there and at one time lost a little speed but stayed at the same rpm

So I started looking at the rpm:
at 55 going up hill shifting into od it only went down 50 to maybe 100 rpm.

At 55 on the flat not pulling the trailer in od rpm is 1500, in drive it is 2200 rpm.

Am I just slipping real bad, is that why I can't get the speed when towing??

I can't understand why I could not get going faster than 55 when pulling the trailer going up hill. It wasn't that steep , 6 or 7 %.

When I am on the flat with no load I have tried hitting the throttle to see the difference in rpm from gear to gear. The difference between rpm when it shifts is only 50 rpm.

Is it time for a new tc and or throttle body or what?

Any thoughts would be great.

Trans may be OK....Probably just the loose stock converter....If you can afford to... I recommend the DTT 89 TC....Made a big difference in drivability for me.

If you were slipping in the transmission, the rpm's would be up around 2800-3000 and you'd still be going nowhere. I think that if you can't generate rpm's, something else is wrong. Fuel filter?

Have you turned in the fuel screw yet?

You're essentially set up the same as I am, except you have a 4" pipe.
With mine, towing a 10,000# trailer, from take off to about 60 mph, it seems to rev at a constant 2200-2300 rpm while my speed increases. Once I get to that speed on the flat, the rpms will then rise to about 2800, which gives me about 70mph to 75mph. If I hit a hill, and the speed starts dropping, if I take it out of OD, I can only get to about 65mph or maybe 70mph at 2800 rpm.

If you can't get past 2300 rpms, it doesn't sound like you are slipping, it sounds like your spring isn't a 3200 rpm spring, or you are not getting fuel.
