almost dies when put in gear

i have a 91.5 cummins ext cab, auto a518,4x4, cai, straight pip exhaust 3in, and replaced 3200gov spring. and forgot to mark seting where the throttle lever rotate on ve pump. so when put together it was a whole mess. took hours to figure oiut we hade to mess with it and fine tune it to get running. took out fuel screw and put back in just to get it to run. now it idles low but smooth. but when put in gear it almost dies and p a slight incline it dies unless i give it gas. fuel pin rotated 90, smoke screw few turns, and dont think full power screw is tured but before it was turned 3 times but had to pull all the way out to put pump back on so now it might have one turn on it. when put into gear it almost dies and has a really choppy idle. what should i do? when punched will smoke tires and hauls more **** then when power screw was turned in all the way but a lil laggyer in lower rpms but faster because can rev to 3200 instead of 2500. i have no tach. should get one and even see if im reving to 3200 cuz maybe need to twist roate bold back more and pull screw out a little bit. but idk

There's two ways to adjust the throttle, carefully turn the main fuel screw in. The problem with doing that is you have to be careful and ready for a runaway, have the turbo open and a board ready to shut it down if you turn the screw in too far. Problem with this is you may have to turn it up too far to get your idle where you want it.

The other choice and the one I would do is adjust the idle stop on the head side of the pump. There's a couple of ways to get the lock nut loose, I usually use a small chisel and pop the nut loose. Then a small long screw driver to make the adjustments and the chisel again to lock the jam nut.

well where the throttle linkage hookes yp to the thing that roatates on side of the pumpi might have to sping it just a hair more clockwise because even though i might not be revving up to 3200 because it got turned a lil counter clockwise when putting the roataing thing back one. and might have the fuel screw turned in to compensate. its idles just fined not as high as did before because i had the screw turned 3 turns. but just past where it does a clanking. a smooth clean idle. but when i put it in park and nuetral it idles fine. but when put in reverse or drive it has a really low idle and almost wants to die. on a sligh incine it will die. but resting foot on thottle prevents it from dies. but i also dont have ide stud out back in and took off spring on outside that brings it back to idle becuse with oldspring it was just too hard to push pedal down but now its too easy. so maybe i just need to put these back on and with a tak to see if im even reving to 3200 at wot
