Air seats
Air seats
I have a 2001 dodge diesel dually and have the integrated seat belts. I can't find and air ride seat like in the big rigs that will work on my truck as they don't come with the integrated seat belts. My wife has back problems and cannot ride in the truck and this is our puller for rv's. So it is really important that I find air ride seats that will work. I am not opposed to putting a seat belt on the outside if it will work. What think ye?
It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!

On my truck I bought just the air seat mechanism for both front seats. Then I cut everything off the OE seats from the seat slides and down and bolted the seats to the new mechanism. Had to fab special brackets and weld them to the console support as that is part of the OE seats. The new parts came with brackets to match the OE bolt holes in the floor of the truck and the new mechanism bolted to that. It was a bit of a pain to make the modified seats attach to the new mechanism and it was necessary to be somewhat inventive.
The seat belts went back to the OE attachments so no problem of them breaking free in an accident.
The air suspension mechanism made the seats a bit higher than the original, but as I have lots of headroom, it is no problem. It took a while to get used to the new driving position, but it is not a problem. You will need on board air to raise the seats.
At that time could only find one manufacturer of the air suspension mechanism, but do a search as I think that now there are a few that may do the job for you. Make sure that you also purchase the air control for each seat as on mine that was a separate item.
My wife also had back problems and hated the stiff ride in my truck when it was empty. Now she does not mind it.

I put these air ride seats in my Fuso.
Regular seat belt. I envisioned putting one of the actuator / bellows lift assembly in my 1st gen, but with the floor being tapered, and the functionality being from 4" to 8", there wasn't enough head room for me, unless I sold the truck to a "little person".
Love the seat. I would buy one, and do what Stan suggested, or reconfigure the belts (if at all possible)
I had to modify it (the air bag assembly) to fit, as it's for a OBS Ford. Welded up a relocation adapter to it, centering it on the wheel.
Instead of using a compressor, I put a schrader valve on there and it works fine for now. Eventually, I'll mount a compressor below and be able to adjust on the fly.
