I had an old '86 1/2 ton gasser wayyy back when.It had an aftermarket a/c.
Does anyone know of an aftermarket kit that's still available?
1st gen,NO options.

None avaliable to my knowledge. Parts still avaliable from AC supply store.

 

There was a company in Kansas City that made a/c kits for vehicles that came from the factory without a/c that I used to buy from when I installed them, but that has been many years ago and I do not remember their name. It seems like their name was Auto Air Inc or something like that, but I do remember they were from the Kansas City area.

 

Check these companies that sell air conditioners for Hot Rods. Almost all of the custom rods around here all have A/C’s some still have Hang On type units.
I have also seen a few of them in the Junk Yards like Pick A Part; you will only need to supply the compressor.
I am going to build my own unit for my sons 1962 Cadillac Deville that we restored.

The '89 I bought as a donor for my "Dord" had a dealer installed AC unit on it, so I know it was available. I thought it was factory untill I saw the little sticker on the window saying it was dealer installed.
