The low pressure cutoff switch is only to protect the compressor in the case that most or all the freon (and oil) leaked out.
Thanks, I need to figure out how to put it back to stock. I purchase the switch
, but not sure where the previous owner hid the center wire that's not used in this mod. A pic would be nice.

It is the only 3-wire unit I can find.

Marc,

Did this switch work for you?

Murry makes a switch

Okay, I have a 1990 W150. The ac system was leaking everywhere! I had all hoses replaced and all components besides the in cab evap. Charged up the system and the new clutch would not engage. I checked relays, I checked everything. Last thing I checked was the probe. I searched everywhere and finally found that Dodge made a similar probe for the caravan, 93-...96? I’ll attach a photo. I purchased it, cut the connectors from the old probe to the wire connectors. I switched the connector ends and it works!! Paid $34 after tax, and it works great!! I live in Phoenix AZ where it is truly HOT AS HELL!!! Just in time for the heat wave! Part number is included in photo. I am not advertising for O’reilly. I’m pretty sure you can order this anywhere! Good luck!!

This worked like a charm!!

That's good to know. I ended up finding a used switch at Pick-N-Pull at my it only blows 49 at the vent. I'm going to take it in soon to see if it's low on refrigerant. How did you wire the new connector?

That is just a function of outside temp. AC works on a temperature differential. It will be colder in winter too because the outside air temp is cooler and warmer in the dead heat of summer because outside air temp is hotter. The trick is to get the AC cool ENOUGH to keep you comfortable when it is hot outside.

Reducing the humidity (which is what an A/C does) also increases comfort...Keeping the recirc door closed also helps because you're not drawing in moist outside air, then cooling it......Ben
