AC chirp

The one on My 93 ford is doing it more often now and I'm worried it could seize. I read here before some one replaced the bearing on one before but can't find the thread, the problem is the AC on mine works wonderful and it would be a shame to do it all over if there is a way to lube the bearing or replace it completely.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Possible it's just a belt chirp? Maybe spray a little water on the belt while it's doing it and see if it changes. Just a thought since our tensioners ain't the best ever produced.

Another belt fix: Shut off engine, put some Comet/Ajax powdered cleaner on the belt, not a ton, a little goes a long way, restart.

Make sure no ones face is near the engine when you restart it.

It sounds metallic to Me like a bearing but I would love it to be just the belt, I'll try is this monday when I see the truck.
Btw is there a way to replace that bearing with a new one with out disconnecting the lines from the pump?

Thanks.

To do it in frame would probably be a pain with the puller to get the clutch off. But being yours is in a ford you may have more room? I think it would come down to how much room you have and how compact your clutch puller is.

I think I can do it with the pump still mounted, would any puller do? I remember there was a thread about this but can't find it in the sticky anymore.

I found the thread here https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...ressor+bearing Jim Lane and Sdstriper gave Me the links directly to the site where I can get the bearings, I just forgot where it was.
Thanks for everything, I give it a try and post some results this time.

Anyone know what type of puller I need to get the clutch/bearing out?
I ordered the bearing but I haven't looked at the pump yet.
Thanks.

You can "borrow" the needed pullers from O'Reilly.

Google can be your friend on this one, as long as you know which compressor you have.

Yea I have no idea which one it is, I know it is the factory one I toke from the 89 CTD.
No O'Reilly stores around here, if anyone know what type of puller I need please share, I have several but I'd like to have the right one when I get to the truck.
Thanks.

See if they have a "loan a tool" program. Basically you pay for the tool, then when you return the tool, you get your money back.

For the R4 compressor on my MB I had to go to Auto Zone for one puller, and O'Reilly for the other one.

I found this on line, does it look like the ones on a 89 at all?
At least it gives Me an idea of what I'll be working on.
