98 powr lok in a 92 axle?
I came up with a power lock (or powr lok) out of a 4:10 and down(3.73,3.54 ect) 98 Dodge axle (all the info dana had from stamping numbers). Now my question is can I put this into a 92 Dana 70 with 3.54 gears or will something make it not fit right. The unit needs rebuild and before I spend the ungodly amount the want for an "internal parts kit" I'd like to make sure it will work.

It is a 32 spline unit. The part that scared me was that the place I was trying to buy the parts from told me the 70 is the worst dana axle ever built for interchangeability.

Interchangeability between what? Ask them about swapping a Power Lok carrier from a 35-splined 70 into a 32-splined 70 with an open carrier. Guess what? All you have to do is change the side gears! A Dana 70 is a Dana 70. Just as a 12v is a 12v. Mechanically, anyway. I bet if you look up parts for both axles using the BOM number, you'll turn up identical part numbers. If they vary by one number, call Dana/Spicer themselves and verify. So why then, shouldn't the Power Lok carrier from a '98 Dana 70 work in your '92 Dana 70?
