Did I Order The Correct Powr-Lok, etc.?
OK, looking for a confirming opinion that I'm about to order the correct stuff:
I've got a '02 2500 HO, 6-speed, 2WD, 3.54 rear ratio, open diff. This means I've got a D80 with the D70 tubes, etc.
I'm ordering a Dana Powr-Lok. I think I need the D70HD Powr-lock, 35-spline, with the 3-series carrier (for the 3.54 ring gear). It's my understanding that this is really a D80 carrier drilled for D70 ring gears, so and I need it re-drilled for my D80 ring gear. The result will fit my truck (?)
Thanks.

if what you're saying is true, why'd dodge do that ?? a good part of the strength is in the gear diameter. if it's just a d80 housing with d70 gears, it'd be cheaper for them to just put a d70 in it.
Sounds correct to me. Instead of redrilling I have heard that they just have to slot the ring gear holes. Reider racing will do the modification. I'll be doing the same thing very soon. Let us know if you run into any problems!
