'93 Leaky Injector Pump
'93 Leaky Injector Pump
Recently my '93 has developed a fuel leak on the front end of the Injector Pump. It is difficult to determine the "exact" point of the leak because of the vibration, it is on the open side away from the engine towards the bottom where the pump attaches to the engine. It only leaks when first started and stops after it warms up. Any opinions and/or help would be appreciated.
Don`t know what it could be but a decent way to track down a leak like that would be to get the pump clean and dry then give it a light spray with some Tinactin (athletes foot spray), I`m NOT kidding. It should dry to a fine white powder, then start the truck and see where it dampens first. It usually helps to have two people so you can keep you eye on it right when it starts leaking.
Thank you!!...Last night after reading some of these posts I cleaned the pump with gunk and this morning I was able to see where the fuel seaps out. It is on the top side of the engine mounting flange just below a small steel tube that runs from the top of the flange down along the flange. I could not see below the tube to determine if there is a weep hole on the casing or else. Later today I'll use a small mirror to look below the small tube.
