93 ctd lots o mods got ??? repower

well i have been working on my 93 4x4 auto club cab to crew cab conversion auto to nv4500 ve to p-pump twin turbo aux trans etc.. for 2 years now (money shortages) any way i have a line a a complete 97 ctd it was wrecked but it has all the parts i need and i have the money to get it now so i have a few questions should i just pull the engine trans out of the 97 and drop it in my truck and sell my engine?? or should i pull the 97 apart and put the parts i need on my engine my 93 has 250,000 on it and the 97 has 140,000 on it i really dont hnow how hard the miles ahve been on the 97 but i know what i have done to the 93 they have been pretty easy miles the only mods to it was a banks kit at 60,000 it has been used to transport tractors for a dealership and then i used it for my hot shot auto transport service which engine is stronger?? and pros and cons to each engine any sugestions as to what you would do would be great

Thanks Jason

Use the '97 engine and save your '93 powerplant for the next project....

Yup, put the 97 engine in and sell me the complete 93 engine, lol. Seriously, the only issue I can think of is the starter mounting- I've heard that a NV4500 bellhousing can be a tight fit in a 1st gen. Might get a 1st Gen NV4500 adaptor and keep the 93 starter.

One thing to consider- how well will the 97's electronics work in the 93 body/ chassis? I.E. voltage regulator, preheat, cruise, etc, etc.

Electrical stuff will be no problem, the only thing you have to get off the '97 as far as electrical stuff goes is the fuel shutoff solenoid harness and relay.

hey guys thanks for the replies that was kind of what i was thinking is just swap the 97 is there any diffrence in the 97 and 93 blocks ? any strenght diffrences ? etc.. i am not worried about the electronics as i am building a custom harness from scratch for the entire truck mostly because am doing a custom dash and gauge package (think semi) and my factory one was kind of junk lol also i have heard about some guys using a ford intercooler in these trucks ?? what year or years truck's are they from i know i would have to do some fab work to make it work i allreaddy turned it in to a tilt front clip so ya no worries there i hear the ford ic cools down the air better and with me running twins i need all the help i can get lol basicly just looking for a bigger better flowing ic to put in my truck

I can't think of any reason not to do the swap.

You want an '00 - '03 7.3 liter Powerstroke intercooler.

i'd deff do the swap. i thinkt he only problem would be the started/bellhouding deal and the intercoler and hoses.

btw would the turbo be in the exact same spot on the 97 as the 93...possibly different manifolds.....if so that may be a small problem for the down pipe.

THe P-pump is so big that it may hit the brake booster, changing to an older one from an older one from a 440 truck or you could <ahem> "clearance" it with a BFH.

If its a 4X4 some work may be needed to get the t-case swapped over, you won't be able to use the '97 t-case. Output on the wrong side.

I believe there is some difference in the cam and head in the newer motor, especially if its a 215 p-pump engine.

I am doing the same thing, so the P-7100 will clear the 440 brake booster??

So the intercooler from the 1st gen will not be good enough for the P-7100 pumped CTD?? Will the 2nd gen. unit work in the 1st gen truck?? How much of a direct fit is the Ford unit?

Can you elaborate?? Is the 2nd gen "adapter" plate extra inch in length the problem? What happpens with the starter? Does it hit something?

2 questions. Will a 00-03 7.3 stroke intercooler work on a 1st gen?
Or should I go with the 16cm and lucas injectors insead? I guess thats really 3 questions.
