My bent tubing tans lines have been a pain for years.

They rub under vibrations, wear pinholes, and leak.

Ive had them re soldered for pinhole leaks at least twice over the years.

While installing my new front leafs I noticed my rubber "bumpers" i put on them to keep them from rubbing have about all fallen off and I have a few near holes forming.

Has anyone replaced these lines with rubber or silicone hose?

Seems I would just need the hose, clamps, and a few brass hose barbs to go on the trans fitting are.

I dont see why not but I wanted to see if anyone else has gone this route?

 

Nope. Have repaired a lot of them, but always by replacing with OEM lines again. Have always just made sure they were secured from vibrating or rubbing against anything. To me, the steel lines seem easier to keep from chafing on things than rubber hoses. Often, I will slit a piece of hose and wrap the line with it for protection. Those big cooler lines have always seemed like a ticking time bomb to me though, one of the biggest reasons I shy away from automatics, I think.

 

Can you still get the the lines brand new?

Ive done the pieces of hose trick, time and the shakes keeps fouling it up. I'm just tired of messing with it.

Id like to convert to a 5 spd, but its just not in the cards right now.

 

It's been several years since I've done one. They were available then, but I have no idea about now.
