Hello, I'm new to this website and I am impressed with the things I have already seen here. I am looking at buying a '92 Ram 250 with the 12V cummins. When I drove it, I noticed some surging and low power. I reached 60 after a while and the surging quit untill I put it under load (going uphills, facing wind). The guy thats selling it thinks it is the injector pump. Do injector pumps give you warning like that or don't they just leave you stranded? No other known problems. It is a 5 speed so it can't be a converter issue. Seems to run at idle just fine. Anyway the price is right so I am going to take a chance on it. It has 220,000 miles and I can't tell there is much of any blow by. Anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks.

 

Could be the pump, or it could be as simple as a restricted fuel filter or a weak lift pump. Hard to say.
