'91 READY FOR GAUGES who, what, where

My son is ready for pyro, boost and trans temp gauges. He wants black faces and white numbers and white or orange/red pointers. A-Pillar mount is fine or dash top pod mount is fine. What boost do we need to go up to? I've seen some that stop at 30lbs. and others that go to 60lbs. I haven't been able to locate either an A-Pillar or dash top pod that is specific to the first Gen Cummins. I need to deal with a vendor with really helpful customer service because I WILL have tech questions during installation. Anxious to hear your suggestions.

i went with auto meter and they had those exact colors and everything to match the stock dash, my boost is up to 60 lbs, they have a pillar mount also for it, and when you hook up the boost guage to the head of the motor id sujest getting a 90 degree elbow right out of the head so it will go straight back insted of worrying about kinking it, also when drilling the hole in the exhaust manifold drill in the inlet to the turbo closer to the back on the pre turbo side so you will be able to get the heat thats comming from the back cylinders due to them being hottest. if i had my truck here i could take pictures to show you where they all hook up, but im sure someone else here could explain it better.

Autometer Z-sieries will dan near look like factory gauges. Here' s a pic of my Z-series Tach.

The sport comp series from Autometer are similar but have silver bezels.

The Boost and Pyro on the top of the dash are Bank$ units that came with the truck. They don't match at all (not even each other )I want to replace them when $$$$ allows.

I have Isspro in mine. Genos sells them and thats where i got my boost gauge. I bought the 30# just because i want to see some sweep on it. There is a 40lb boost gauge out there and the 60#. I got my Fuel pressure from Midwest fuel injection. Its a matching Isspro. The tach and Pyro which came with the truck are Isspro as well. The all have been great gauges so far and match the stock stuff great IMO.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. We are leaning towards the Autometer Z- series or the Isspro (son likes the colored dial on the pyro). Probably going to mount all three on the A-pillar by using a universal two pod and a single pod as SMOKE'EM suggested. Question: Could I order a three pod A-pillar for a 94-98 and just trim off the top and bottom ends and then mount it right over the existing A-pillar? Anyone ever try this? Or is it a cleaner install to just do the universal pods as mentioned above?

I have a universal pod on mine and it is OK i guess it could have fit a little better but what can you do its a universal. The second gen ones i don't think would work caus i think they are curved to the contour of the winshield and the winshield is alot shollower angle than the 1st gens so i don't think it would work and probably wouldn't look good. Heres a pic of mine it is just a single universal pod.

I went with an AUTOMETER cause they are more avalible, look nice and they perform well, and they are priced well except i think isspro's are a little less expensive, i'd choose autometer mine works great and was a simple install. I like the autometers cause they have a screw-in probe as isspro's don't so you will have to be careful not to have an exahst leak. Isspro's might have the screw-in probe now but one of my friends has one and it didn't and his truck has a bit of an exahst leak.

you really can go wrong with either autometer or isspro there both very reliable brands and work great, but as said above mount the probe for your pyro a little back from pre turbo to read the hot cylinders, my probe is mounted in a very accurate spot, but as said above i have a small exhaust leak, all i need is a reducing bushing. i like isspor there nest looking and oem brand, just an opinion! good luck and keep us filled in!
