89 ve cummins want power please help!

Hello everyone I am new to this forum and looking for some help with my truck I've owned the truck for over 2 years just fully restoring it and I'm looking for around 400-500hp please help with injectors I should run and ve pump mods I can do or buy. I have the fuel pin and governor spring now and I put on a Hx35w and front mount.
Do not want to go p-pump route I would like to stick with what I have just want to get out there and tear ***
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

From what I understand from others is you can make more power with the VE pump than the P-pump. Look in the sticky's under "Performance" and start here Turning up the pre 94 Ram diesel injector pump
.

Actually the ability to generate more HP/TRQ is greatly increased with a P-Pump motor. But a well built motor with a VE can still perform very well.

I agree...check out "The Sticky" at the top of the forum, or use the search function....there are plenty of threads in the archives with people looking for the "magic" number of 400-500hp.

Also, make sure that you understand what 400 Hp is in a diesel.

The boys 89 with stock injectors, a turned up pump and nothing more than a Banks Intercooler and a HX35Y from a later 12 valve will get you in trouble faster than you think..... and I guarantee you it isn't anywhere NEAR 400 Hp.

Just a thought.

Pat speaks the truth. You can make plenty of power with stock '89-'91.0 injectors, for a very fast daily driver.

The torque these engines put out can make the horsepower numbers deceiving.
300Hp will be like 400 in a gasser

I am going for a good solid 300HP now with room to grow. I have read that the non-intercooled injectors are good for 400HP.

Thank you I have also been doing a bunch of reading and everyone has been saying you can make plenty power with the stock injectors I will tune pump with the stock ones and see what it brings me. Any suggestions on fuel pumps? Will the stock lift support this?

The piston lift pump swap is a good idea but not necessary it your lift pump is in good shape.

I like the fact that it gets rid of the diaphragm pump that if ruptured can fill the crankcase full of fuel
Hungry Diesel sells a good complete bolt on kit.
