My dad is doing pretty well now and in remission. He has a new girlfriend that is younger than me, so he seems pretty happy.
I have blocked a couple days off this month to have a little stay-cation and wrench on my 1st gens finally. A good friend of mine has some time off from the Navy and we are going to hole up in my shop for a few days.
We will be getting the rebuild 'Rag and resealed NP-205 installed with a fresh South Bend Con-O clutch. Then I can get a measurement for the rear W-250 driveshaft I will need to shorten up.

Glad your dad is doing better. Sounds like he is doing better than a lot of us in some ways.
Good to see your Dad is doing well and that you have a little time to get Gauntlet going again.
I just found your thread and the previous owners and want to thank you for all the great info and tips
you are posting here. I'm going to need them all.
On mar 24th I am heading down to Santa Rosa, California to pick up the rust free ( rust free in canadian terms anyway)
76 ramcharger i pick up off craigslist for a cool $550. Hard to find up here with little or no rust. No engine in it but that only
makes it lighter to tow home to Alberta and don't need no gaser anyway as I'm doing a frame swap (same as yours) with a 92 w250 clubcab donor truck i have. Was originally the donor for the diesel frame swap on my 1964 power wagon i picked up in Kalamath Falls, Or. I decided to go newer for that swap, thinking my 05 3500 daily driver may get sacrificed instead.
The other great thing about this R/C is the factory air-conditioning, pretty rare thing here in Canada on trucks back then.
anyways, looking forward to more of your posts Oliver
I love an old pop top Ramcharger, jrm78. That is a good looking donor for the swap.
I have half of next week blocked off for "me time" in the shop.
I have a few thing to do on the white '85 crew and the '91 as well to make them summer ready, but will get some decent headway on the Gauntlet project.
We got the lift in on Tues. There are few loose ends to tie up with the wiring and it should be ready to lift my Ramcharger up to install the fresh Getrag next week.
I had an older friend who married a young lady and I jokingly asked if he was worried about a heart attack. He said that he was looking when he found this one and guessed if she died he'd just find another...

After a full week of long days / late nights and lots help from a couple of awesome friends the Gauntlet run and drives under its own power! We had to re-work, re-do and re-design almost all of the previous work.
I didn't get in from the shop until 1:30 am again last night and have a ton of work to catch up on, but I will shortly update details with pictures [Thanks T-man!]
