The first picture is what I saw when I pulled the cover, no case bolt, no billet KDP tab.
It might have been overkill but I used the 12 pack box to make sure all the bolts returned to there proper location.
Good race day even thought the wind was 20-30 MPH, visibility was little to none and the temp was 5F maybe 10F tops. Most of the lifts where closed due to the high wind.
I took second place snowboarder by only 0.1 seconds, and the rest of the team was in the top 20 for skiers out of about 160 people. We might get a free team dinner out on the town for that sort of showing.

Off to crack a beer, listen to some Iron Maiden and clean off old timing case gaskets in the shop.

I had the time to clean up the timing case and cover and get it ready it install a new front crank seal and a fresh cover gasket.
If I get a little crazy tomorrow, I might even spray a fresh coat of black paint on the cover.
I also got a '96 P-pumped harmonic balancer I am looking to install as it is bigger and may help dampen things.
It still has the CPS grooves, but is about an inch or more in diameter bigger.
It was something I heard PapeCat mention about using the later year, bigger harmonic balancer to dampen things a while back.

I am no expert at re-assembly, and I am not to proud to use a "cheat sheet"
to make sure everything goes back together smoothly.
I saw a "professional wrench" use this technique 15 years ago on a head gasket job.
I have been using it whenever it seem worth it since.
I am in no rush, I would like to have it done right at the end of the winter.

Good idea with so many bolts that are different. In this case it likely saves time.

I just finished getting the timing case all buttoned up with a new front crank seal and timing case gasket.
The cheat sheet of bolts on the cardboard make it really easy for me to dab a little RTV on the bolts and thread them in by hand into the right hole the first time.
I then torqued them down to 18 FT LBs.
I am feeling good that I am at least starting to bolt stuff back together on this project!
It would have been nice to paint the outside of the cover before I installed it ,but it was a 10F high outside today and I didn't feel like spray painting in the shop.

That FD post is top notch, J, and I printed ThrashingCows instructions out and followed it to the Tee, and learned a bit along the way and manipulated the part on the fan clutch a tad to get mine to work. TC was even generous to even offer his assistance via PM's when I ran into questions. If and when you do install the FD, you will not be disappointed in the investment of time and $$
