'89 1st Gen, still working hard

Newbie here. Very nice site.

Working in AZ still is my '89 on both wildfire contracts as both wildland and aircraft/helo protection as well as a raceway fire/rescue contract. Fully equipped for Class A thru D fires. Former Phoenix FD rig. Still going strong throughout the AZ area, primarily central and southern. Love the 1st Gen trucks.

One question though, is there anywhere that still stocks the cold air intake rubber boots that go into the turbo? I can't seem to find a replacement one of those anywhere.

Welcome to the site and Nice truck.

You can make your own intake pretty easily.
Check out the sticky at the top of this forum. Its the how to guide for these rigs.
There is an article with lots of pictures or what you need to put together an intake

If you're wanting an OEM one, they are tough to find.
To add insult to injury, '89 is by itself, though it's only a cosmetic difference from '90 and '91 Non-intercooled.
'89 is smooth like a radiator hose, '90-'91 has reinforcing ribbing, presumably so that it won't collapse.

A few guys on here have used spares, so post in the wanted section.

Mark.

Awesome truck! All I ever see at the fire department around here are Fords.. I would go ahead and ditch the stock intake and swap in a BHAF (big honkin' air filter) because it never hurts.

Glad to see ya on the site and maybe some pictures of that ole girl in action!
