550FT lbs

Was going to do my kingpins this weekend but it looks like I'll need a huge torque wrench. ?How do you guys do this? Just with the "it's tight enough method?"

I guess you're reading marks writeup ?

Tool rental supply might carry one.

Truck shops

or find someone who owns one.such as me.

or buy your own from Amazon

http://www.amazon.com/Mountain-MTN16...6134116&sr=1-3

I bought an SK years ago for working on trucks.

The ball on the top of the knuckle that the bushing goes over. It has a big hex in the center of it.

Torque Multiplier

I use my regular 1/2" drive TW on a 3:1 torque multiplier. 150 lb-ft X 3 = 450 lb-ft required. Dunno if it's cheaper than the bigger TW but I feel U have more capabilities with this setup

I use a 3/4'' breaker bar with a snipe, get it tight. I have also been a HD mechanic for years so i am familiar with how tight something is by feel.

Bah...Just use your nice 1/2 inch breaker bar (or the big allen key from 4wdf) and stick about a 4 ft pipe on it and put it back together.

We do some 2800ft-lb torques but we cheat and use a Hytorc (air over hydraulic torque wrench).
