518 trans to 47rh T-Case ??

Hey guys,

I have been searching the swap for some time and it seems pretty easy. I just got off the phone with a guy that will sell me a 47 rh for 500 bucks, complete trans, converter, adapter plate and starter. The best thing is it came out of a 95 working truck. So I am in like flint. My question is, on a 94 or 95 truck did it have the same 205 t case. I thought I read it did somewhere but just want to make sure it will line up. I know I have to make a few adjustments to the driveshafts and trans mount, But that is no big deal as long as it bolts up to my t case. thanks

The trans tailhousings are identical, it'll bolt right up.

If you haven't already done so, read this,

Nope 94-95 trucks came with a NP241D I think, got 2 of them at home from a similar deal to yours. Driver side drop, aluminum case chain driven. A 205 will bolt right up to a 47RH, just have to use RTV to seal the flanges. Some 47RH's have a drain in the OD section and some don't.

I see you done the swap. So did you wire in the manual lock up switch? Also, do you have to unlock it between shifts. Is there a way you can wire it in to your speed sensor to kick out at 25 mph during deceleration, or does this lock up function have to be done manually all the time. The reason I ask is when my wife is driving, I want to make it so she can figure it out, I'm not much of a tranny guy, so that is why I am asking so many questions. If you know of any threads on do's and dont's of a lock up swithch, I would appreciate it.

JD, where have you seen a 47RH 4x4 output with a seal for the 241 input? Every one I have busted apart, did not have a seal in the trans tailhousing, thus it can be used with a 205, with the same sealing gasket used with the 518 setup.
(I see it is mentioned in the reference website, yet I have yet to see a 47RH with any seal as mentioned. The regular paper gasket and the coupler, just like the 518 can be used).

As far as the O/D 4x4 housings, both castings are identical, so the 205 TCase will bolt right up.

I have seen 2 so far both are mine, I just pulled another 47RH/NP241 apart the other night and it has the seal installed in the case. The years cast in the OD case are 92/93, when I looked at the drain it is blocked, my other one which is a 94 year casting has the drain that is not blocked.
