something bad, plz help

Red face something bad, plz help

my speedo quit on the way home from school, wouldnt shift into OD, and is making a horrible ticking noise sounds to be commin from right under the cab, i drive this thing a lot and i need it back on the road asap, and help or opinions are greatly appericated! thanks a ton,

Yup speed sensor or its drive. For the clicking, check the driveshaft slip joint. I've heard them make that kind of noise before. Also check the u-joints, you could have a dry one starting to go.

where is the speed sensor and how do i check it, any other ideas on the nasty tick knock tick noise?? i really need this fixed

There are several pics of the VSS on here , search for it and there are a couple good threads on how to test it and replace it and what commonly goes wrong with it..

it was making that knock tick noise for about 3 days b4 but wasent bad at all then the speedo wnet crazy 2 days ago, and the knock is nasty!

Just a thought, but check the output shaft nut for tightness. If loose, it could, in theory, cause a ticking, and once loose enough can cause the VSS to stop working..
you have to drop the drive shaft to check it, but it might be worth doing.
