5 reasons why you love your first gen....
5 reasons why you love your first gen....
I had a couple jobs last week up in the Seattle area....I'm a painter/construction/handyman....anyways....loaded the ol' truck up and headed west from Boise, Id, loaded down with tools & gear. Had a lot of time to think with my dual 5" mitres growlin behind my head. Why do I love this truck? Its loud, its not super comfy, its always breakin' (my speedo went out on the trip) its rough, its dinged & dented....and alot of other things that could be looked down upon in a world of new Dodges passing me by, with TV's in them, air that works, smoother ride, etc. Then I got to thinking more...thats why I love this truck. Its different, its rugged, it stands out, and I just have a love for these old trucks.
I stopped off at Mount St. Helens, and drove up to the lookout. It was awesome! Its still growing....camped out, and headed north to the land of Microsoft, and what seems to be the home of the Toyota Prius. Those suckers where everywhere. I saw an awesome 1rst gen down by the port, under I-5, with a 5" stovepipe with a flapper. Sweet. It was white if I remember right. My truck gets some pointers and gawkers in a big town like that, especially when everybodys on the "green" wagon...(my truck gets 20mpg even when haulin' a loaded trailer, but the average tree hugger probably wouldn't want to know or believe that.)
Went to see my niece & nephews in suburbia, and they came running out...."we want a ride in the monster truck!" So I spent the afternoon trucking around the neighbor hood with a truck full of kids screaming for smoke and them sitting on my lap taking turns driving...they are 5-7 years, and it was fun. The 7 year old offered to buy the truck in 3 years, so I got a potential sale coming up. Anyways, you should of seen the looks we got from the desperate housewives and the people walking there dogs....my uncle said he could hear the truck on the other side of the neighbor hood and the turbo whislin'. Good times.
Anyways, this is getting long. There are a million things I love about my truck, but I'm gonna list 5. I thought it 'd be a cool thread to see what top 5 things you all like about your 1rst gens. Below are some of mine:
1. My wife thinks my truck is sexy, so she lets me dump money into it.
2. Its LOUD
!
3. The looks I get are priceless.
4. Its got tons of power.
5. Gets amazing mileage!
