5.9 in 1973 W100 swb

Hello All,

Here's a couple of shot of what I've been working on. It's a 1973 w100 swb that I'm in the process of putting the engine and running gear in from my wrecked 93.

Oh he!! yes!!! Love it!!

73 is my all time favorite ram. If I can find a nice rust free donor I would love to convert my 84 crew to a 73 body.

I'll be watching this one.

I recommend taking the front spring FWD perches from your '93 and using them on your W100. They are more stout (my W200 perches were cracked) AND they use the 5/8" eyelet bolt hole instead of 1/2". Drill them rivets out and swap/bolt the new ones in.

Springs look good and level but I would definitely make a bastard pack or at least use the '93 main leaf so you can take advantage of the 5/8" eyelet.

Nice job with the Trans Cross member. Looks like you needed to make a spacer for it because the W100 has a 6" frame and the '93 had an 8" tall frame. I went the other route and used a 2wd getrag and stuck with the stock divorced np205 setup with 1410 yokes. It works great.

Looks like a really nice truck, and great job with the swap so far! Surprising that even though it was an "Adventurer" trim model that it doesn't have factory A/C! You can swap to an AC box but watch out those are brittle fiberglass... Make sure to wire brush all the bolt ends to get rid of all that black firewall heat shield gunk before trying to unscrew the nuts from the firewall - otherwise you will spin the captive bolt in the box and damage it.

I've been driving the '72 quite a bit and love it. They are great vehicles. Especially with Tons bolted under your truck that thing is going to be wicked.

PapeCat, Good idea on the spring hangers. I'll have to get them off the 93.
Trucks going to be a play truck. I'll post progress pic's as I can.

I've built the hot pipe and exhaust for twins. HT3B/ H1C Not sure if I should put them on the W100 or my W250 ? I've got bigger injectors to install at the same time. What do you think ?

Those twins would be just completely SICK on the W100! Hoowhee that would be a quick truck, and total sleeper status. Only trouble would be traction. Great work DLittle, very nice swap so far. It's awesome seeing stuff like this, resurrecting old trucks with 'newer' engines, and diesel to boot! Lovin' it.
