Question 4x4 q's?

well my np205 is filled with fluids and good as far as i can tell, my driveshaft is in good working condish, my front axle is ok i think, i had to replace the front left wheel bearings about 3 months ago...long story short my truck spins all 4 tires in dirt, snow, mud, but not on solid ground.....at least last time b4 i did my bearings it didnt, it was in 4 high hubs locked and engaged and floored it just spun the rear tires, but thats with axle messed up, is there a way i can look to see if everything is working like it should, i kno it works and works pretty good off road, just wanna kno for sure!

it will spin one front and one rear.. unless you have lockers or a limited slip.

No way to have a mix of other than the same power to front and rear. That only happens in full time case with a differential between the two outputs.

It is pretty easy to tell if it is working. Put it in 4wd and turn short. If it binds and hops when you turn on dry pavement.. it is working

It all depends on what kind of surface your playing on. The only reason your spinning all four in the sand is that theres not enough resistance for the axle to spin just one tire. Spider gears will transmit the power to both wheels until one loses more traction than the other then its all to the wheel with no traction, path of least resistance.

If you have a bunch of slack in your driveline sometimes it takes more than just a half circle to get a chirp or bind out of the tires.

Also, Ive seen stock hubs on W250s not engage, both have to be engaged fully to have the axle function in the front, again, path of least resistance.

Be careful though!! All it takes is one weak link and a single bind on dry pavement in 4wd to snap something HIGH DOLLAR!!.

it will only spin all four if there is balanced traction.

An open differential will send the power to the point of least resistance. So on pavement whatever tire breaks loose first will continue to spin unless something changes to make the other have less traction then it will switch.

Don't be flooring it on pavement in 4wd cody you are gonna royally screw something up if your not careful, as far as i am concerned you should never really FLOOR it in 4wd. Your 4wd works right now if it spinns all 4 on dirt but it is hard to get the front spinning cause of the weight of the motor, That is probably why the fronts don't spin cause they probably have an excess of 2200 lbs on them.

I'm not sure about yours but mine last summer when I pulled a concrete truck from being sunk to the axles in mud and I was on dry concrete in 4 lo all 4 tires were burning and i probably took $100 of tread off getting him out. Mine also does the hop even on dry dirt when turning kocked in 4 wheel.

I got lockers front and rear because I'm PARANOID of the snow. I can spin all 4 of my tires locked in 4wd on the road when i use water meth and a boosted launch. I don't think your gonna be able to spin ALL four tires without some decent torque numbers or if your under load/weight from a trailer, or if you have crappy bald tires you might be able to do it. I wouldn't suggest it cause I'm sure sooner or later somethings gonna break somewhere because when that 4wd finally grabs it really makes some horrible noises and jerks.
