New 06 4x4 CTD3500 (4x4 of course)
Hey Guys,
I'm new to this fourum and just recently bought a new ram CTD manual tranny. We bought it to tow our 26' Weekend Warrior travel trailer(around 8000 lbs). We are in the process of selling a 97 F-250 W/38 swampers. We loved the truck but it did not do so well towing such a load. The ram does great but it seems like the gearing is a little low . I would like to put a small lift (2.5 to 4.5 inches) to clear 35"s or 37"s. Iwas looking at the new Powerwagons but I needed diesel. I really like the setup on the new PW's and was wondering if anyone had any advice on building a Diesel Power Wagon. KORE lifts seem really nice and I've been looking at FabTech as well.Any advice appreciated. Aso any advice on powerwagon flares, winch bumpers and other mods would be cool.
Thanx,
Philip and Erin

Is it a 6 spd or an auto? The final drive on a 6spd is a fair bit lower than that of the autos. If it's an auto, I would probably stay away from 37's. My mom's 06 auto turns about 1900-2000 rpm at 70 while my 05 6spd turns approx. 2200 at 70. Both trucks have 3.73 diffs. If you have an auto with 4.10s, the 37s might not be that bad. Kore lifts are, from what I've read, one of the nicest lifts available...also one of the priciest. There's lots of threads on here about lifts and their quality.

If you are quad cab I would go 37's. I just think that is the right hieght for a quad cab. if you want to clear 37's my praticular advice would be a 6" lift. you can do it on 4.5-5" but you have to run 8" wheel with factory offset to not rub at lock articulated.
6" lifts are
tuff country (cheap uses spacers)
superlift (uses front springs, rear blocks)
bds (front springs, upper conrol arm relocation, rear blocks)
I would either go cheap and run the tuff country if you dont' have an issue with the spacers. if you think the spacers suck step up and run the BDS. the BDS kit is better than the superlift IMO due to the addition of the upper arm relocation bracket which is depatable at 6" of lift as I don't get horrible brake dive but it may be less with the bracket.
kore lifts are nice but they are expensive and I would only run them and a truck that will really be used off road. By used off road I mean beat on not just driven off road. 35's are aslo the bigges tire you can go hear.
now the fabtech and skyjacker are 5" lifts. I would go skyjacker over fabtech as i am just not a fan of thier stuff. they like to sell you cheap dual shock setups when you would be better off with one nice shock. I would not run 37's with either lift due to fear of rubbing at articulation. (I hate rubbing tires on expensive truck if you have the money for a CTD you have the money for a lift that will actually clear the tires IMO). there are people with 5" lifts and 37's but wheel width and offset will play in. 6" give you more freedom on wheel and tire choice.
