4in downpipe

when i went to install my 4in downpipe there was nothing on the pipe to mount it to. on the old stock dp theres that piece that mounts to the engine or something up there. but my problem now is i took that mount off and when i try it on the 4in dp its too long and makes it rub against the frame. am i going to have to cut the piece shorter and tighten the exhaust so it rests a little bit higher away from the frame? if you need more details just ask, i know im not specific with parts

thanks for all the help!
David

When I did mine, the way that piece your talking about fell just snug against the down pipe. So I just got a 4 inch exhaust clamp and snugged it up.

thats what i was thinking put an exhaust clamp in the way and let the metal rub against that. if i do that i'll be perfectly fine i just need to get some more 4in pipe clamps, the one my dad brought me had been cut really short for some reason !!!!

good to know... guess I should get some extra 4" clamps!

For going back to a stack kit, did you have to have a straight peice to have enough piping to make it to the flexible peice? Not wanting to hijack, just wondering if you've run into that (mines still in the mail, so I don't know yet).

i just bought the 4in downpipe and then he said i could also buy the t-case pipe. it had all the bends to wiggle its way around it. and my truck being a club cab the exhaust sits right about where the little window in the back is. but my dad has some 4in pipe at work and clamps so i've been slowly putting it together the way i want. to go to a stack piece you might need roghly 3 feet. i havent measured everything out yet. let me know how tha stacks go i plan on puting a single on mine

On my single cab the t case pipe was just long enough to clear the cab and the elbow needed a little trimming to go right up into the bed.
