47RH Shift Points
After 12000 miles Im very happy with my rig, however, I cant help finding ways to improve it and the one thing that first comes to mind is the shift points. From a standstill, it takes a "long time" (to me) for it to shift from 2nd to 3rd and then to OD, all the while the engine revving around 2000rpm. It seems to me it's a waste of 3-5 seconds of "peak torque". Most of the time I have to ease on the pedal so that it goes to 3rd and OD sooner.
1st to 2nd occurs under a second, but even when babying the pedal, 2nd to 3rd takes about 2-3 seconds, and 3rd to OD another 3 seconds. I think this is normal, but I can't help wondering if there's a way to improve it. Ive already adjusted the TV cable to shift as early as possiible and adjusted the TPS to the lowest setting possible.
In short, I'd like to see the shift points all less than 2 seconds apart, and at lower rpms.
Would a shift kit, valve body, or a torque converter with a lower stall / higher efficiency, etc. provide what I'm looking for?

At the end of the day, the hydraulic governor on the tail-shaft determines shift-points, the valve-body only alters the signal.
I'd start by calling the tech-line at the likes of TransGo and explain your set-up and what you want to do. They can then specify what steps/parts in a given "kit" would be appropriate.
(I don't know how the lock-up type converters play when not locked-up as compared to the 46RH).

My truck has a similar problem with the 2-3 shift. A potentiometer would fix the late od shift. I spoke to the place I got my shift kit from and they said my 2-3 shift problem was because I changed a spring in the valve body and I wasn't supposed to. The directions said to put it in but their tech said that that spring was for gas applications only but the directions didn't say that. I guess someday I will switch it back when I pull the pan for something else. For now I have the throttle pressure set kinda in the middle it is really close just not quite perfect.
