4 Inch Lift Kit ???

I want to install a 4 inch lift on my 1991 non IC W250 regular cab. Its a Getrag with 4.10s. I already have a new set of BFG 12.50x33x16.5 tires on 9.75x16.5 wheels.( yes I'm old, thats why I run 16.5s). Question is...what brand lift? I have mostly seen references to Skyjacker and Alcan. Does anyone have any experiences or recommendations with these or other lift brands? Thanks.

I just installed the skyjacker 4" kit and running 37s. They rub a little under full flex. I had to order new u bolts for the rear springs. Apparently I have extra springs in my pack.

I have the 2.5" springs up front now, and i don't know what is going on in the back, the PO of my truck had custom rear springs made with like 10 leaves, then he had the factory 3" block, then another inch block on top of that.

I'm about to put my new 4" springs on the front, and put a factory 6" block on the back from a 92-93 truck,, along with my massive amounts of added leaves i should be level.

Skyjacker doesn't realize the difference between 89-91 and 92-93 trucks using different blocks, 92-93 trucks have 6" blocks and sit real high in the back, you could put 4" springs on the front of one of them and probably another 1" or 2" block on top in the back and It'd be level.

skyjacker also makes a kit that comes with rear springs that deletes the block all together, but they don't look very heavy duty.

on a 91 with 4" springs on the front, you're gonna need to either stack blocks on the back or get new springs. 89-91's sit pretty low

you could put an add-a-leaf in the rear. that would give 1.5-2.0 in lift with 4in in the front should be close to level and it will freshen up a tired spring pack. I put a 2in spring on the front of mine and nothing in the rear it sits level and I run a 33x14.50x16.5 on a 16.5x9.75 wheel (I'm old too)

I forgot about the difference in rear block height between the early and later trucks. Thats why the early trucks look so low. I have had several early 1st gens and they never had the "stance" of the later ones.

Did you have to change your shocks with a 2'' add-a-leaf?

With 2" lift in the front or back you can use stock shocks, that's what i have on mine.

with 4" lift however, you need a longer shock. If you look up shocks for 4" lift on summitracing.com it will give you all the length specs

Looks good...what size tire and wheel are you running? Do they rub and did you do any trimming? I think your truck may sit higher than mine because its a 1992. Do you have any extra leaves or blocks? Thanks

Yea i've never seen a Non i/c truck that sat as high stock as dieselJon's, It looks like he has the factory 6" block in the back and his front springs aren't sagged. I think he's running 33x12.5 on 16.5's

Crossy's Son has it right.

However, the fronts are just getting a negative arch. When flexing on entering a driveway approach, I get some light rubbing on the bottom of the flare in the front. Then again, the wife's Honda scrapes too.

Indeed you are correct...my 1991 non i/c is sitting at the shop with the new Skyjacker front 4" springs installed. They sent 2" rear blocks with it ,I suppose under the assumption that it would sit level once it was all installed. Well it sits way higher in front and looks ridiculous. Pisses me off because I mentioned this to Rocky Mountain Suspension when I ordered it but they said it was the correct kit....they dont even offer a 4" block with a 4" kit. All kits available in 4", even on Skyjackers home page, come with 2" rear blocks only. I have a set of Tuff Country 3" blocks that I never used so Im going to stack them in and get new U-bolts to fix the problem.
