3.07's to 4.11's got 'er dun
After some deliberating about whether or not to swap out my gear sets or get a 70 housing, I decided to go with the whole rear after I scored a rear 70 w/4.11's and posi out of another '90 pretty cheap. I thought I would get to work yesterday and it took about all day, save for the three hour break to cut grass. I swapped out my backing plates, brake drums, hubs, axle shafts etc. It wouldn't have taken so long but I had to run around trying to find new 3in brake shoes and Mobil 1 gear oil. First impressions are good, way more throttle response, cruising speed up to 80mph. Egt's are a little lower, I think because rpms are up, moving more air???. Anyways I can't wait to hook to a load and see what she does. I have a front 60 out of a 89 gasser sitting outside the shop waiting to go under the front, hopefully next weekend. Just thought I would keep yins posted.
Are you sure it is a dana 60? I thought the 3/4 ton gassers had the 44 up front. Maybe they had both. Im not up on gasser dodges very well. I have 4.10's in my 93 with a rag. Around town is nice. Overdrive at 40 no problem. 65 seems to be a happy speed. Over that I am starting to turn up and loose mpg.
You didn't like the 3.07's with the getrag? .. mummn ...Thats how two are my trucks are. One was built that way from the factory, and the other I built ..I love it..wish I could get the gears still , or order em in a new truck.. I've towed with it and I normally run in 4th towing and don't use 5th until I'm over 65 mph any how.. I get 16 mpg towing in direct with it.. I have a ground fuel pin, PODS, BHAF, 3" to 5" exhaust, piston lift pump , gauages etc.. it will run up till about 120mph and I get nervous.. it is still quick too..and nice to run in low range plowing and still be able to run down the road to the next driveway ..as you can run 45mph in low range ha
