2nd gen to first gen motor swap

Im wondering if anyone has done this and has any info on the swap, are the motor mounts the same? Will it bolt right in the same place, what kind of wiring issues should I expect? Any help would be great thanks

It's bolt-in mostly. If you get the shutdown relay with the solenoid the wiring is pretty easy.

If you are putting it in a gasser 1st gen you will need to get 1st gen diesel motor mounts. If you are just swapping diesels you use the mounts from the 1st gen.

It is already a cummins now my plan is to use the advance adapters bell housing and use my 1st gen 205 transfer case and the 2nd gen motor and nv 4500, will all the sensor wires for engine temp and so on work on the second gen motor? Also the heating grid and what not?

You'll have to swap some sensors to make the grids work factory.

To make it simple, just swap them all. None of them actually run the engine.

i just finished this exact swap pretty much...use the motor mounts off your first gen. the wiring is really simple, i ended up using a 92 auto wiring harness but a 94 manual pcm. i kept all my factory sensors in the motor and the 94 pcm communicates with everything inside just fine. I installed a 94 160hp 12 valve with a nv4500/ 241dhd case in my crewcab. I also used the alternator with the 94 so i didnt have to use an external regulator and the pcm controls it perfectly! if you have anymore questions ill do my best to answer them
