my 4" flex pipe system from the turbo back has been treating me very well. about 40-50 bucks worth of parts and a couple hours to get it in. no problems with transfer case or front driveline. i even was able to modify the hanger mount on the tranny to work (flipped it around). now it's routed more like a 2nd gen. no turns! my .02

oh yeah, i can't seem to get any of my pics to post, so if you want one let me know and i will email you one.

Ive got a 3 inch downpipe that goes to a 4 inch all the way back and let me tell you, the fit around the transfer case is tight, maybe at the most a 1/2 inch of room on either side, that is a conservative estimate, but i love my exhaust, and wouldnt trade it for something else.

What mods would I need to hook up 4" at the turbo? Do I just ask for 4" flex pipe, or is there a special kind. It should be easier to get to the middle of the bed for the stacks right? I don't have the auto or 4x4 stuff to fight, so it should be easy right?

I am looking into a 4in downpipe as well. I emailed a well known diesel company and they quoted me 220 dollars to build me a downpipe. My 4in exhaust from the turbo back didnt even cost that much so I got to looking around. Rip Rook makes a true 4in downpipe for the 1st gens for 125 dollars. Sure beats the 220 dollars that other companies have quoted me. www.sourceautomotive.biz

Well .. a 2nd gen downpipe "WILL NOT" work without ALOT of tweeking. I picked one up today and so far it requires a 2nd gen trans dip stick for my auto that I had to cut the mounting bracket off and reweld. Along with a small hammer strike to the firewall. Along with several cuts on the bottom end to get about a 60 deg angle on that bottom bend, as well as a little shorting in that same area. I also had to get the cast iron adapter that comes on the 2nd gens.. it's been ALOT of work and $$ but I think it'll be worth it...That sucker is HUGE !!

Sorry my "EX" took my camera so I have no way to post a pic. The pipe was 90.00 and I got the elbow for 20.00 . I have 3 1/2 flex pipe around my transfer case and the reducer was 20.00. It then opens back up to 4". Your 2 wheel drive / 5 speed will be REALLY EASY. Just make 3 to 4 cuts at the bottom bend "a little past half way" thru the pipe, "my blade was 1/16", make each cut about 1/2" apart "maybe a little less", then HEAT the back side of the Bend to close it up. Tack weld while someone is pulling it together. Then weld it up. Your gonna love it!!! No more CRAZY BEND'S and no more COOKING the thransmission line's What the hell were they thinking when they designed our downpipes!
