2nd Gen. 12v swap into 1993 1st gen
Hey guys I'm looking for a little input on what I'm looking at as far as swapping a 12v out of my 98 parts truck and putting it in My 1993. I know they are basically the same engine just didn't know if there was anything I know. Thanks

what trans will you be using ? You have to switch the Vacuum pump n power steering pump from the first gen and then use the first gen motor mount's and also if your getting the 98 motor get the throttle cable also makes thing's easier . Also the rear plate will have to be used if your bolting a first gen trans up

I planned on using the getrag that's in my truck and I pretty much have full access to the whole 98 so what ever parts I need or don't need it's there. But mainly Just trying to decide if its the route I wanna take or put the non intercooled 12v that was in one of my log skidders in it.

That's where I have been leaning towards. We pulled the 12v from the machine because the injection pump was getting weak but I had a parts skidder with a P pumped 12v that had less then 500hrs. So I will have to swap my pump off of my original engine but didn't know if I needed to use my injectors too? And I thought I read somthing that non I/c injectors and I/c injectors won't interchange but I wasn't sure. And didn't know if beings it came out of a piece of equipment if the everything is the same as what's in the non I/C trucks.

NON iced and the I/Ced injectors don't interchange as the earlier ones are bigger.
Not only the amount of fuel they deliver , but as in the hole in the head they screw into is literally bigger too.

In general - No. Cummins engines were built to a specific CPL that the equipment/vehicle manufacturer specified on their contract with Cummins. As an example you could get a 6BT with a VE pump in an industrial or medium duty truck/bus application in 1996. Different CPL's also meant different prices and different emissions that may have been needed to be met for production at the time of manufacturing. Cummins also reduced the injector bore sizes due to the fractures that occurred between the injector bores and the valve seats. I'm pretty sure they didn't just scrap all of the earlier big bore injector heads that were already in stock.
