235 85r16= 30"???

all the tire calculators I have used say that the 235 85R16 are so post to measure out to 32"

mine our measuring out to 30" on the back of the truck unloaded at 65 psi.
absolutely no bulge in the tire.

I have also noticed my speedometer is off buy 5mph. really doing 55 when speedometer says 60mph.

the tires are almost new, could I have gotten a brand that runs extra small?

I am wanting to step up to 33"s but I am worried that if I buy a 33" tire that it wont measure out to true #s, I am wanting to steep up a bit in size as I do alot of hwy driving.

Let us know what tire you bought. I have always been told, that tire is 31 to 32 inches. I know that all manufacturors are different.
I like the 255/85/16 I have been running them on my vehicles the last 10 years. At least on the non dually vehicles I drive.

im looking at mud tires like the bfg or maybe the Micky Thomson MT ect...

I just hope that the 33" tire I buy actually measures out to 33"

In my experiences, there are only a few tires that measure the as tall as they are supposed to and those are mostly MT (offroad) tires. Most all other tires measure out to be 3/4" undersized.

Most of the four-wheeler and off-road mags i read when i was younger said that tires dont actually measure up to what they are supposed to be untill you hit the 35 mark. Another thing to consider is your rim width. A 33x12.5 on an 8 inch rim will be taller than the same tire on a 10 inch rim. The wider rim will give you a wider foot print with higher air pressures but will also not seat in the bead as well and will require a slightly higher pressure to stay on the rim if you intend on cornering really fast. Just what i have read so take it with a grain of salt.
