Where is this leak comming from I heard it might be a faulty windshield seal design has anybody found this problem and whats the cure... I can't find where the water is getting in.. HELP

 

Usually it's cowl cracks.

 

Most likely you have cowl cracks that are letting the water run down the INSIDE of the firewall and underneath the floor covering.

If the water is mostly on the passenger side, a malfunctioning A/C drain will accumulate gallons of water.

 

I had this same problem, after I had the cowl craks fixed, but my problem was on the drivers side I finaly found it was the seal around the croch cooler vent was leaking. It sticks out into the inside of the inner fender and water runs down onto it. if the seal(foam) it dryed out it leaks. So i removed the seal and put RTV sealent all over the 2 faces and have never had a problem since. Hope this helps

It is rarely the windshield. The cowel is likely. I have had two where the cowel space where the wiper linkage is has been rusted through to the inside. Put ah ose to it and find where the water is coming through. I have seen too many windshield rubbers caked with trashy looking silicone. The steel behinfd the silicone often rusts.

 

Same here. Pulled the carpet and underlayer, put spray in bedliner in the floor and drilled some drain holes. I have picts in the gallery but you probably get the idea.

 

I had that problem and drove it in the rain and up in the top corner of the windshield on the drivers side (with the plastic trim off of the inside) I could see water leaking down the a-pillar. Never did anything to it and it stopped. You might want to take the trim off around the windshield and spray it down with a hose just to eliminate that area as the root of the leak.

 

Mine was leaking where the A-pillar meets the cowl, apparently the sealant guy at the factory wasn't paying attention and missed that spot. Actually he couldn't have been paying much attention at all judging on the quality of his blobs.

 

Sounds like it could be LOTS of places. Mine leaks badly but I don't see any cracks. I can pull the cowl/wiper area and inspect. But, I bet I'll pull the interior trim and spend some time with a flashlight while the wife/kids hose down the windshield.
foot vent shouldn't take on water or rely on the gasket.

Many cars I've had- the window gaskets shrink back. Also, you can look at it more suspect if the windshield has been replaced as they may have pinched a seal.
RTV has acid to "etch" and help with the bonding. If your going to use it as a sealant on paint/metal-get a special type. Probably pick it up at grainger or order it from Mcmaster carr.

I've got the same issue.
After buying my '93 last winter I pulled it in the shop to clean the interior.
BOTH floor pans were rusted out.I welded new pans in and am now fighting a water leak.
I've pulled the front end off and found no cowl cracks.
I suspect a bad windshield seal as well.
When it's raining,you can actually watch the water drip onto the beer cooler,oops,I mean vent on the pass side (truck has no a/c).
I'm at a loss at this point myself.

my rear cargo light was my leak. kept getting water in the rear of the cab.

 

The doors/seals on these trucks are also a frequent source of water intrusion.

 

My truck had a clogged a/c drain and when I turned hard left water would run out on the pass floor.
