1993 Dodge Fuel Problem. Dead In the Water!
1993 Dodge Fuel Problem. Dead In the Water!
I have a 1993 Dodge 5.9L Diesel truck. I figured I had water in the fuel, because it would shut off while on the road. I would pullover and bleed the fuel filter. Then it would start up after a few cranks. I would make it another week or so and it would happen again. I figured where I buy my diesel fuel has water in their tanks. I added a additive to get rid of the water in the tank for the last couple of months now also. I just replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump that you prime the fuel lines with. It started right up first try after replacing everything. I dove it about 5 miles in 2 days with no problem. Today it started to act up and miss and cut out while driving again. I turned around and made it back to my street. It died and I was able to coast it back home. Now it will not start at all. I bled the fuel filter then loosened up the injectors and tried to bleed them. I got nothing out of them by priming them by hand. I then cranked it over a couple times. The fuel came shooting out and then I tightened them back up. I know I'm getting fuel to the injectors. I also check the problem codes and it came up with 55 and no problems. Not sure what to check next. Stuck with a dead truck. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You in advance.
First thing, there is a very good resource on the first gen part of this forum, those guys know more about it than Dodge.
This is where the resources are stored:

Finally to your problem, I would bet a dollar to a doughnut the fuel shutoff solenoid wire has either slipped or has come off. This is so common it isn't even funny, and all of us have been bit by it at least once.
Here is a thread to identify where it is at:
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...ersion-130793/
It is identified as letter G.
Make sure that is on tight and 12 volts are present and she should fire right up, if not, pop in the first gen side and ask.

I checked the wiring on the fuel shutoff valve and all the other wiring in the area this morning. Nothing was off or loose except the wire from KSB valve felt loose, but connected. I cranked it over and first time it fired up and ran great. As I ran is I moved the wires on the VE pump and around to see if I had a loose and to see if it would cut out or sputter. As I was moving the KSB wire clip, it came off. I had a small fuel leak on the top of the pump and it looks like it corroded the wire clip and it broke off. I shut it off and then tried to start it again. It started no problem. I know I have to replace the connector on the end of the KSB valve, but not sure why the truck started up so easy after sitting over night. Don't want to drive it, because I don't trust it to no break down again. Anybody have any idea on the next step to take? Thank You.
Yes, that is what I plan on doing, but not sure if I can take the bolt off the end without opening up a can of worms. I live in Southern California. I doesn't get cold here. I might not need it at all.

Thank You very much Edwin. I have the terminals and the crimpers and can do it. I just was not sure if I could remove the bolt on the end KSB to install and new terminal end without messing up something inside. Again Thank You very much for your offer!
might not be a bad idea to drive over to Edwin's place. Sometimes it's good to have an angle looking over your shoulder "just in case". My late Uncle was mine, and it was good to have a more knowledgeable guy there in case I got in trouble.
