Will the 17" wheels off the newer dodge trucks fit a 89 model ctd? I don't think they changed the bolt pattern. It is just larger in diameter. Please correct me if I am wrong... Thanks in advance...

 

yes they will fit. The ymoved to larger lugs but thats it.

 

At the present, the only way I would put 17" wheels on my truck is if they were given to me with a new set of tires on them.

LT rated 17" tires are still an oddity when you have one come apart and are a long way from home; they are not found easily even at large tire shops, let alone some little filling station out in nowhere.

Also, a 17" tire will cost about $50 more than a comparable 16".

In a pinch, used 16" tires can be found anywhere for $20 or so, and get you home without having to buy some un-matching new tire that will always be the odd-ball until it wears out.

You can about forget finding a used 17" because there just aren't enough trucks out there that are running them; and if you are fortunate enough to find a new one the same size, it will most likely be a different brand.

The reason for the larger diameter wheels is to make room for bigger brakes and sell more expensive tires.

 

I agree with all that you have said. The only reason I want to go to a 17 is they are for a farm truck that is used to feed and make runs to town once in a while. The truck doesn't get 10k a yr. put on it. By the time it needs new tires I can go back to 16" or I am guessing in a couple yrs. 17" tires will be more plentiful and cheaper for these trucks. I also have an 03 model and it's crazy what some of the brands want for 17" tires. Yikes!!!

 

I'm not scared, if you decide you dont want those 17's let me know. I have 16.5's right now and it doesnt get any worse than that. I'd have better luck finding a tire shop in redneck-ville that stocks 22's than 16.5's.

 

I will totally agree with that.

16.5 tires, once common, are now rarer than hen's teeth.

 

05 rims will not fit the rim hits the tie rod in front on 2 and 4 wheel drive i have tried it my self does not work the offset brings rim in too close
