I looking in putting a 14mm Ve rotary pump in my 92 W250 with an automatic. What do I need to do the driveline so it can handle it?

Stock tranny is a bit weak, but upgradeable. Stock flex plate is guaranteed to shear if run over 400 ft. lbs. torque for long. SFI 29.1 plates are available for $150 or so.

It would help if you put your build specs in a signature line. Go to User CP to do that.

I would first worry about finding a 14mm head and rotor that will last for more than 1/2 an hour.

Definitely the transmission, better clutches, low stall converter, shift kit, upgrade your fluid cooling.
Driveshaft hoops.
Why doesn't anybody have a reliable 14mm H&R?

I would like the truck to be a hot street truck its a W250, club cab, LE, auto. I have rebuilt he auto with a shift kit but kept the factory flex plate. The truck is bone stock. Would like to get 300-400 Hp out of my first gen.

No need for a 14mm for that power level.

I think Jason Sands 14mm is still running. I have heard of them lasting a while. The problem (as I understand it) is a fuel supply issue/cooling/lubrication issue.
Takes a big fuel supply to feed the 14mm head, and if you aren't running big, fat injectors with a supplemental fuel supply into the pump it eats itself.
JMHO.

that was the general understanding for a long time but I am not convinced that's the actual issue.

I'm wondering if it's a combination of a couple things. Rockentech not having perfect machine work and/or inferior metal being used. The 14mm H&R and the 4mm cam plate greatly increase the stresses on those parts afaik

The old KTA (I think that's who made them?) parts had better success but even those came apart.

If it were me, I would just ppump if you're after lots of power.

450 (and arguably more, a few have tickled the cusp of 500 on fuel only) can be made with enough effort.

300-400 isn't that hard to make on a stock VE if you know what you are doing.
