12 volt source for pyrometer
Hello, I am looking for the best place to hook up the isopro pyrometer 12volt/ignition power wire. Does the fuse box have extra slots for accesories? Thanks

There was an unused plug under my dash that had four female spade connections in one plastic bulkhead. One of the connections was a keyed 12v source, so I just plugged my gauges into it.

There is the gray connector under the dash like mentioned above. This is the plug for the factory tach. I have it powering my tach and pyro. Also one of the leads in it it switched with the dash illumination.
Just need a spade and connect to it.

What would actually be the most right way to wire up something like that. Any time I ever wired anything up in a vehicle (cb, gages, whatever), i just wrap the bare wire around a fuse in the fuse block that is hot when i need it (ie. ignition, or acc.). I always considered this to be sort of unacceptable but that is the quickest and easiest. I know where everything goes but I always figured if somebody else was to look all the toys i got wired up would wonder what the hell I was thinking.
Should things like this in order to be done the "right" way have its own separate fuse, wiring, etc. Or is wrapping the hot wire around the radio fuse and shoving it back in the terminal considered acceptable. I'm not trying to knock anybody's wiring habits b/c I do the same thing and probably always will, just wondered if it is considered ameteur or not.

WVU, that's how i was always doing it, the way my old man taught me. There are better ways, but this is simple, cheap, and most importantly, it gets the job done. Where abouts in Morgantown are you located? Always good to know another cummins nut in the same town...
