1/4 Throttle Tantrums

Not sure why but the truck at 1/4 throttle seems to miss and kind of fall on it's face. Smack it to the boards and it clears up. Anybody have a clue? Fuel delivery? Air leak?

I was just thinking that. The one dumb thing I didn't think about before. Thanks for the wake up call.

start threadjack/ You went from having two 4x4 trucks to having 2 2wd trucks in a month. .... what trans in the D350? Did they even make a 93 crew cab?
/end threadjack

I'd try checking fuel pressure and new fuel filter.

Nope no such thing as a '93 crew. I have combined all of about 10 trucks to build one, and it still has no drive train. It's titled as a '93 D250 though, with an altered GVW to 10,100 (thanks to the previous owner) same as 1 ton's. I've had the crew project for about a year now. It's just gone from being several different things to one finalized idea. My Dad always told me "Four wheel drive will get you farther, and leave you there." I had to find out for my self and he was right. Everytime I drove the W250 it would break something. I traded my buddy for the new dually, which is automatic with a complete Getrag swap waiting to go in. Found many many things that were done wrong and causing all of the problems in the W250. But I'm happier with the D350, rides nice, can haul everything I need, and loads more power. And once I find a clutch worth putting in, I'll have a pretty fun truck to drive/use. Hopefully get it the way I want it to run before the NADM Diesel Nationals on July 18th.

Oh, thanks for the help guys.

Well I swapped out the filter and got a bit more throttle response but the higher rpm stutter is still there. If I manually shift the trans and let is wind up in 1st and 2nd is when I notice it.

Check your lift pump pressure. If the pump is weak, a new filter wont help much.

I think that's a tad high for a 1rst gen...try like 3-4 psi at idle.

Thanks guys, found the culprit. The feed line on the pump was just loose enough to suck a bit of air. I tightened it back up and it runs like new.

Ok, so I guess the truck made a liar out of me. It's still doing it, not as bad, but still. What else could it be? It doesn't smoke any color when it does it, it just stumbles until either I let off of it or get on it a bit more. I notice it really if I leave it in 2nd gear and the rpm's climb up a little ways.

Still sounds to me like air getting in.

Well, after several months of being apart and put back together only to come apart again, I'm driving the truck. But, much to my dismay I still have this problem. I have so far replaced every part (with the exception of the LP and injector lines) of the fuel system. I've put a new line from the tank to the LP, line to the IP, new PODS and sealing washers and return line washers, along with a return line, I even changed to a new sending unit in the tank (fuel gauge works now). Still I can't figure this out.

It wouldnt be injector lines, they would be wet if they were leaking...
Checked the fuel heater gasket?
Have you put a clear plastic line on the supply side to the lift pump yet? <----thats one of the most useful tools...
Where is your timing at?
