Since my CTD is my sports car now and it will not see winter anymore, what should I do to the truck for storage? It will be in the drive way, I'm not lucky enough to have a barn or garage to put it in.

I'll have fresh motor oil, tranny, diff, antifreeze and a full tank with power service. Anything else I should do?

I'll try to get it fired and run it once every 1-2 weeks.

 

My 3500 is parked from Nov to June.
Besides fresh fluids and fuel all I do is start it about once a month.
Must work, it has over 250k and has been treated this way since I bought it new.

 

Do you drive it and cycle the coolent a few times?

 

You should run it for at least an hour or don't bother starting it. You will end up with condensation in the oil if you don't get it hot enough. I use a battery tender to keep my batteries up and take it out on the weekends when I have time to drive it.

 

Plug in the block heater for 6 hours before you start it.

Driving is a good idea.
I would drive it as far as the local car wash and get the salt cleaned out. I hear Ontario paves the roads with salt in the winter.

 

I'd certainly drive it after you start it. If not for any other reason than to charge the batteries. I remember reading once it takes about 15 min of continuous driving to recover the charge it took to start it.

 

That is why I don't want to winter drive it anymore, it's seen two winters and that's enough. I have a new little death trap to perform the winter service.

I guess I'll just take it out when there's snow on the roads, might be less salt during those times.......Who doesn't like drifting a dodge in the snow
