White smoke is also unburnt fuel, but for other reasons.

Main reasons are cold combustion chamber and retarded (or advanced?) timing.

Black fuel is unburnt due to not enough air to fully combust,
plenty of heat though thus the "soot".

You were right Phox, to far retarded is white and to far advanced is black smoke.

White is unburnt due to lack of combustion temperature, black is due to insufficient air.

Mine is smoking a whitish blue smoke after startup, sometimes for 10 to 20 minutes if I let it idle. If I drive it it dissapears sooner. SOmetimes it seems quite a bit worse than at other times. I checked timing and that is ok. I just had my one yr old injectors out and cleaned and reset and it still does it.
I checked the rubber fuel lines and they seemed fine also.
Can the injector pump be the culprit and how do I check that out with it on the truck?
any suggestions?

If you advance your timing some, 16-17, the white smoke will go away and run better and get better fuel economy.

matador, your truck sounds normal, it just isn't warmed up enough for complete combustion. Idling a cold engine won't warm it up, in fact it can get colder. Get in and drive.
