ah yeah locking hubs are great the conversion is where you change your factory hubs (electric or however they are) I believe my 06's hubs are always lock but I'm not sure anyways you change your factory hubs and convert them to manually locking hubs like older 4x4's had on them where you get out and lock your hubs at the hub. I can't remember how my old 98's hubs were from the factory but if 2nd generations are like I think my 06 is where the factory hubs are constantly locked you probably will see a slight increase in mileage. I think with 2nd gens it's more about reliability and cheaper replacement parts (berings and seals) than factory units. that is just from what I know don't take it for fact but I hope it gives you things to think about

I cut the cat conv. off of mine and my dad's and that helped the mileage and the power some. the other thing I recommend is put the bigger wheel cylinders in from napa. part# 37337 I believe. $16 and I already see the difference in mine. especially for towing. Other than that I bet you got it. That is a nice truck and I bet that if you keep it clean it should hold the value. good luck. By the way, I also recommend bhaf #2790 from napa and a pre filter from outerwears.

Concerning the throttle cable, check with the dealer for recall #970 (I think). No matter, there was a recall that replaces the cable due to fraying and sticking. Free fix.

Baja is right about the recall on the throttle cable... there was also one on the secondary hood latch (#973) and one on the vacuum check valve(#720).

FYI, dealers have the ability to produce a "Vehicle Information Plus Summary Report" that will tell you a bunch of stuff about your truck, e.g. when and where it was first sold, what recall work has been done, warranty info, dealer work done in the last couple years, and a pretty good description of the truck itself(eng, trans, paint, etc.).

96 to 2002 were all 47RE

94/95 were RH and are slightly shorter.
