water in fuel

I just washed my engine and my water in fuel light is on. I drained the filter but the light is still on. What should I do next?

THANKS CRIS

Mine does this all the time. I just washed my engine yesterday and the light came on. Usually goes off after I drive the truck around for about 10 minutes.

Disconnect the sensor, dry out the connections, and reconnect.

Use Dialectric grease on the connection to prevent happening again.

I have a "few" oil leaks on mine and I keep cleaning it trying to find out where they are. Everytime I wash it the WIF light will come on. It usually turns off again after driving for a while. The colder it is outside the longer the light seems to stay on.

Moisture seems to enter right where the wires enter the sensor. A little shot of compressed air will help.
