Valve Body

Hey guys,

I have been searching diligently on the site to find information about a performance valve body. But, I cannot find a direct answer to my situation. I have installed a #10 fuel plate and I really love it. But, when I first put it in I had it in the stock position and it slipped my torque converter really bad when it was locked up at a low RPM. So, I started playing around with the plate. I slid it forward and and backward until I got to where it don't really slip the converter. I do not pull heavy loads and the stock converter is fine for what I do. But, my question is this--Would a performance valve body make my stock converter hold more after it is locked up?

Short answer is yes, howeverin the long run you are gonna need to upgrade that TC. Once it starts slipping there is no going back, you can ease it a bit with right foot control but it is still gonna be there.

OK. But, based on what I said earlier about not going big on the horsepower and not pulling very heavy loads, do you guys think that a single-disk converter would suffice on my application?

Does the Transgo keep your converter from slipping when it is locked up? Thanks!

get a triple loc at least with a new valve body. i know its costly but its worth it. you'll notice little things change too like fuel milage and trans temperature. I would suggest a full tranny but if you are just sticking to mild upgrades u'll be ok with those 2 things. but anything over 300hp watch your input shaft. i broke my stock one right when i hit lockup. it was a prety loud noise in the cab and did quite a bit of damage.

I will probably never go over 250 hp. All I have is a #10 plate and it is plenty for me. My converter just slips sometimes when I really get into it and I do not want that happening. Thanks for all the suggestions.

A good single disc TC will be just fine. With an aftermarkhet VB you will increase linie pressure and a bit more holding power but will still not address the issue of the stock TC. They were not built very well IMO. A good TC and Vb to match from DTT, GB, HTS, or Suncoast will do just fine if you're sicking around just above stock power levels. I had a DTT single disc in my previous 98.5 adn it held 550+ at the rear wheels just fine. Also adding a good TC and VB that match will increase fuel economy at least 1-1.5mpg.
