Vacuum pump question

I took out a V10 out of a 2000 Ford Excursion and I am putting a 97 12v into it. The gasser had vacuum brakes but the 97 truck had a hydroboost system. My 96 truck has a vacuum system for the brakes. Is the vacuum pump the same on the 96 and 97? The 97 also has three hoses coming out of the power steering res whereas the 96 only has 2. Could I just cap the one that went to the hydroboost and run the vacuum line to the Excursion brake system? I would prefer to do this because I have most of the parts to do it, but I also could buy a hydroboost unit from a Ford diesel and make that work.

I don't know the answer, but I am totally jealous of your transplant. I have been rolling this exact conversion over in my mind for months. As soon as funds become available, this may be my next "new truck." Let us know how it goes and what issues you have.

All the 12 valves and most of the 24s have the same vacuum pump.
I see no problem at all caping the extra return line.

Your 12 valve has a saginaw pump and the ford has it's own crappy pump ...LOL
Just get a saginaw pump for a hyda unit ...pressures are just a little higer ...the has 2 return lines ...one main feed .
You may have to find a Hydralic hose company and ... Mc Master carr has lots of fittings and adapters .
Unless I can see what your working with I can't help you too much ...it should be a no brainer .
Check out a couple guys on a sight called ford cummins...these guy do this for a living .
