Question Was under the truck today and noticed a purple tag...

on the new transmission (10k miles on it) fill plug - it says:

Refill with
46375779

I assume this is the dealer part number for Syntorque gear oil (I hope). Can anyone verify this!

Checked with the dealer this morning and sure enough - that's the new Dodge part number for the Syntorque gear oil.

By far the best price on Syntorq, $52 for 5 quarts.
It's the real stuff.
You have to call http://www.blumenthalautomatics.com/index.htm

You're right, 12Valver, but most of the NV4500 experts recommend to dump an extra quart in through the shifter. The reason is is because the input shaft bearing is located higher than the fill plug, so an extra quart will help keep that lubed.

I don't believe in more is better.
The engineers that designed the NV know exactly how much fluid is optimum for their trannys or they would have put the fill plug higher.
I've been running 4 quarts for over 200k trouble free miles towing 26k lbs everyday for six months out of the year.
If more is really better it's taking it's sweet time to show up.
