trying to fiquring out gearing / options using the VIN #?
I have a truck I just bought, and I wondered if there was a place I could enter the VIN # and get the powertrain options.
The little white sticker under the hood is missing, the window sticker is long gone.
The axle tag is rusted off.
I know I could jack it up and spin the tires and count the driveshaft to tire revolutions, but the fact that it is -20F out and the truck is in a 1ft of snow, makes me hunt for an easier way.
I was hoping there was a website that could tell me the trucks options???
Thanks

If the truck has relatively stock size tires, you should be around 50mph/80km/h in direct gear (3rd auto, 4th 5spd, 5th 6spd) at 2000 rpm with 3.55's 4.10's would put you at 44mph/70km/h at 2k.

Thanks for the options boys!
Truck has NO brakes so the driving in 1:1 gear RPM @ speed test is out..haha
I will try the website first.
Since I haven't bought a Dodge from the dealership in 18 Years!

if its mid to late 90's dodge truck:
3.54 axle will be cruising 65 at about 1800-1900 rpm or so
4.10 axle will be cruising 65 at about 2100-2200 rpm or so
if the lockup converter is working ok & you have 'normal' size tires
