'96 3500 gearing options

I have a '96 3500 4x4 5 speed with the 4.11 gears stock. What options do I have for lower numerical gearing using the existing housings?

Seems like I read that there are differences in housings depending on the original gears and some gears can only work with certain housings. I would be wanting 3.73 or maybe 3.54.

The only choices I have ever been aware of on those trucks from the factory are 3.54 and 4.10. Not sure if the aftermarket has any other options.

I think 3.73 and 3.54 are both options with the D80. Housing wont change, but the carrier will if you go to 3.54. I'm not sure about 3.73.

4.11 with a Cummins? Can you even go the speed limit? im going crazy as my truck wont budge much over 80 and I have 3.54's - im used to blowing well over 100 with my old duramax.
Wish you luck man!

3.73 would be good. Will it go into the front axle okay?

Somethings wrong with your set up. My last '96 had 4.11 and .75 od on the 5 speed plus .78 on the gearvendors. That combination would be equal to a 5 speed with a 3.20 rear end. (4.11 x .78 = 3.20)

I towed 27K gross weight at interstate speeds in double over. Rarely came off double over. #11 fuel plate, 913 pump and set to 285hp 685 torque. Nothing extreme.

Empty it would set me back in the seat past 100.
