Transmission Sticks/ Vaccum pump issues
Transmission Sticks/ Vaccum pump issues
Alright so I've got an ATS converter and some kind of "shift kit" installed in my tranny, don't blame me this was all done before I ever found this site. Anyway, occasionally when I come up to a stop the tranny will stick in what feels like third gear. When I go to pull away from the light the truck feels like I'm pulling a huge load. Even if I floor it, no downshift just lagging trying to pull the taller gear. Could that be out of adjustment bands, or time to get a new valvebody or whole new rebuild?
Also in an unrelated issue I recently rebuilt my vaccum pump. Very simple to do had it in and out in about two hours. The problem now is it is leaking more oil than before, I may have the seal in backwards, I'll check that next weekend. Also the parking brake light and abs light stay on all the time now. Before it was only on cold mornings which I thought was the leaking vaccum pump, now with all new seals and o-rings it seems to be worse off. I don't have any issues due to poor vaccum though, brakes work fine, 4x4 engages quickly, cruise works fine, and the dash vents still work.
Sorry for the post length just trying to vent all this frustration.

I'll answer my own post. The oil leak/vacuum issue I was having was due to using too much grease. I spokw with the owner of fixinrams and he informed me that too much grease on the oil seal will prevent it from sealing anything, vacuum or oil. He informed me that he would send me a new seal kit free of charge so I can correct my error! Talk about customer service, anyone who has a problem with a leaking vacuum pump visit this man's website and order a reseal kit, heck of a guy.
